Kencairn Kenny

When I was 5 years old, my parents who had researched dog breeds and chose the Cairn Terrier, drove to Kencairn Kennel in Pittsburgh to pick up Kencairn Kenny.

Kenny had a wonderful pedigree, and when I was 12, I bought a female, Dorritt of Killybracken. Four litters and two generations later, I showed and finished Championships on two dogs out of a litter of five.

Now, in retirement, I again have pups and shows in my life. And best of all, I have contact with the most delightful people who share our love of this little dog. Though small, my breeding program is well researched. I belong to both regional and national Cairn Terrier clubs and show my dogs in conformation nationwide. My pups have had great success also in earthdog, obedience, and therapy work.

I have added an English import, Tweedisle Myrtle Berry, to my home and hope for puppies from Berry next spring.

Meanwhile, Pinetop Jocasta From Scotch Broom, who won the Bred-by-Exhibitor bitch class of 12 at the National Specialty this year, will be going to the UK in January.

Here in northeast Ohio the weather encourages active Cairns with great coats. Squirrels provide constant Cairn TV and I have an acre to roam. I am well positioned to get to many more shows than I could attend before, and I welcome back our puppies and their owners whenever they can visit.
